Before I topstitched the button and buttonhole placket in place I finished the small hem at the bottom of the placket. I opened the bottom of the pressed placket and serged the edge. Then I folded the placket back onto the front and stitched at 1/2" just the width of the placket. I clipped the corner and flipped back out to the right side.
