My favorite project recently has been the most ornate garment I’ve done so far. It was a custom request for a wedding dress. The bride wanted circular gold crystal bead work. I sourced trims for over a month and couldn’t find anything. So, I decided to hand bead the trim. I drafted the bead pattern, then, transferred it to netting set in an embroidery hoop. The yoke needed to be a sheer illusion creating an off the shoulder look. I had to do a lot of re-drafting to make the seams more discrete. Most of the dress was sewn by hand.
but one of the best parts of my job is seeing the sincerity in people when they come up and start asking questions about the Bootmobile. Driving the Bootmobile is certainly different than your everyday ride. I just might wear it as a summer tank too. as shown above. the fresh output of the San Francisco underground should definitely pique your interest. then the new LP from the Hospitals will do the trick nicely.
I’ve been a member of BurdaStyle since March 5, 2011. My username, ahearta, was a carryover from Etsy and Twitter. It’s also now my go-to username for the many online sewing communities that I’ve found this past year. Since there are so many Amy’s out there, I have half a mind to start commenting on blog posts as ahearta as well, but for now I’m still just Amy out there and ahearta here.
