For those of you who participating in the Sew Along with NikkiShell, especially the first one for the Susan Blouse, you might find this How To a bit too late. But after a special request from a member, I decided now is as good a time as any to share the trick for sewing sharp corners and angles.
I think we’ll start the Sew Along with the choice of any of the tops from the Burda Style pattern database. The choice to be left up to you. I’m leaning towards Susan or Maddy, since they’re the only two I haven’t tried yet.Maybe you could use some fabric that you have sitting in your stash or find something at the thrift store to recycle. You could then spice your top up like I mentioned in my last column. Experiment!
When I finished placing all of the fabric, I stepped back to see the image of my grandmother…it was amazing! But I was now faced with a new problem – I could see that the quilt needed really beautiful stitching. I was thinking freemotion quilting would be good, but unfortunately I did not have those skills!

Ok, everybody. We hope you all stay safe and fun and cool this holiday weekend, and maybe you will even get a little sewing done!Valentine’s Day is almost upon us! My husband and I don’t make a big deal of it, there are no big presents or dinners out or any of that mushy stuff. What we do like to do though is make something for each other, usually a card. What is even better is when the card I make can be made using things I have around my home which in turn is saving me money and using up materials that may otherwise end up in the landfill.
