- Baste the zipper opening.- Sew the dress center back below the zipper.- Press the seam allowances flat and open.- Finish the raw edges of both seam allowances from the top of the dress all the way to the bottom.- Lay the zipper face down on the wrong side of the dress. (The teeth will be touching the right side of the pressed-flat seam allowances.)- Hold the zipper in place by connecting both sides of the zipper tape to the corresponding seam allowances using either pins, tape, or a machine baste.- Stitch-rip a 2” (5 cm) opening in the basted seam to expose the zipper pull.
