Don’t miss out on giving your wardrobe a whole new look! Sign up here for Monday’s Web Seminar!Ladies, have you ever considered how lucky we are that compared to guys we can wear whatever pleases us, we could take the male jacket pattern of our BurdaStyle website and sew a fantastic jacket for us. In contrast, a guy running around in skirts and dresses is likely to be frowned upon, although some of them really do look fantastic (like my ex- ex- boyfriend who picked me up from high-school one day dressed in a long skirt that a friend of his had designed).
Give this Shirt Dress a real retro feeling with antique buttons down the front. It’s a structured silhouette with hidden pockets and classic lapels. Play the prim and proper school teacher with high heeled oxfords, or make it in a bright mod print. This simple jacket won’t distract from your outfit, but it makes a statement in a retro print. The collarless 3/4 sleeve silhouette has a retro feeling that pairs perfectly with sheath dresses.
Erdem Moralioglu is half-Turkish, was raised in Canada, and earned his fashion stripes at Diane von Furstenburg. On the other hand, he’s also half-English, a graduate of England’s Royal College of Art and the winner of the British Fashion Fringe award in 2005, so London is as natural a home base for his Erdem line as anywhere else. What makes Erdem intuitively English, however, is its aesthetic an urbane mix of English dandy, English punk, English eccentric, English gentry and English tailoring.

My husband and I don’t make a big deal of it, there are no big presents or dinners out or any of that mushy stuff. What we do like to do though is make something for each other, usually a card. What is even better is when the card I make can be made using things I have around my home which in turn is saving me money and using up materials that may otherwise end up in the landfill.

It is my first real passion and brings me so many things! To start, I now live far from my family and sewing is something that brings me closer to my Grand Ma’. I love those moments when she tells me what I have to do, on Skype. Last month, I was finishing bridesmaid dresses at her place, and she helped a lot, handstitching the hem with her old damaged fingers. Of
To make the style even more flattering on the body I cut the panels with the stripes vertical. This pattern PDF doesn’t come with the skirt piece because it is a a big rectangle, so I simply just measured it out on the fabric and cut it. Then for the neck and armhole bands I cut strips 1 1/4" wide.
