AND WHAT HAS ALL OF THIS TO DO WITH FASHION??? HOLD ON, Don’t go away here comes the connection: Ever considered the CO2 footprint of your clothes? Take a simple t-shirt produced in Asia for example: the shirt is probably made from man-made fiber (polyester), based on some oil derivative emitting CO2 – stitched somewhere in China, Taiwan or Sri Lanka, shipped by container ship to a port in the US another big source of CO2 from the port, it is being trucked across to the shop where you buy it, – more CO2 and the story continues with the number of times you wash your shirt, etc. etc. Bottom line: a shirt produced in Asia travels something like 12,000 km to be sold in the States or Europe and the amount of CO2 that is generated by its production equals about 3.5 pounds or 1.6kg!
In 1926, on the 10th anniversary of the founding of The Woman’s Institute, Mary Brooks Pickenwrote that, beyond everything else–beyond the creativity you nurture, the skills you learn, the self-reliance you discover and the friendships you make– the one thing she wished for every womanwas that they each learned “to attain that bigger thing, the art of living contentedly and graciously.”If my book can move someone one step closer to that goal, then it has done what I dreamed it
My favourite thing about sewing… sewing encompasses so much of what I love, its difficult to pick out one thing! I’m a fabricaholic (is anyone immune?), but I also nerd right out on the technical aspects- I LOVE patternmaking, and that was my best subject at school. I love reading about couture techniques and cool little hacks that make my sewing life easier. I’m also into collecting vintage sewing machines and notions, and trying to figure out how all the mechanical gizmos work is a lot of fun. As for what I hate… um, I’m not crazy about grading patterns once I’ve drafted them, and hemming is a drag. But that’s it!5. If you could make something for anyone, who would it be and what would you make?
But now…in January 2007 i tried again and was very happy that it was a success! And I can?t stop, like you seeing here on this side!!!At the moment it plays a very big role! I have much time for it and use it for sew a lot. I want to improve my skills to prepare me to be trained at a fashion school, hopefully.
Happy holidays!!!I finally finished my cape with hood project for my Mash Up! I am in love with the final project, as this is my first cape I have ever made (and even worn)!Traveling HoodHere we have a member that made the same cape pattern, and her’s turned out great as well! I love the back belt she added.
I cut the back piece out of this leftover crocheted white fabric I had laying around (I used the majority of this fabric making my friend’s engagement dress last year), and I cut the front piece as well as the sleeves out of this thin white jersey. I also decided to cut my binding strips out of the jersey fabric, so I cut a long piece 1" wide with the direction of greatest stretch going lengthwise.
Well I’ll tell you now, How about #dollardollclothes on Instagram? and pin out to a padded surface, It's a nice idea that you can still use the unused baby clothes for the baby doll. 2010 at 12:18 PM Grace Harbor said.. Go With Me ?what is the spanking given with?
