I sew constantly. I kid you not when I say I am a complete sew-obsessive. I started sewing relatively late in life and that fuels my determination to learn fast and pump out the projects. In the last month and a half my sewing blog, Male Pattern Boldness, has taken over a lot of my psychic energy too: it’s often the first thing I think about in the morning and the last thing I think about before going to bed.
Here we have the Faux Fur Coat that has minimal details but big impact. It has no collar, trim, or lining so the faux fur can be the main focus of this cozy coat. It does feature some intricate seaming that really gives this coat both structure and style.
This is the garment that was published in Vogue Knitting Winter 2006/07. I used worsted weight silk/mohair blend together with the lace weight mohair at the neckline. Later I also tried to invert the pattern and use lace weight yarn for the body and worsted weight yarn for the insert. You can see the result below:

Here is my finished top! I’m totally obsessed with the back fabric and the hi-lo hemline. Such a great wardrobe basic for summer, I know I will wear this a lot and it could also work as a nice beach top coverup!
