I didn’t want to use a cardigan or baggy pattern. For the inserts in the pattern I used some leftover black mesh fabric from my sultry Little Black Dress project. Using little scrap pieces of fabric in a new garment is such a great feeling!The only pattern alteration I did was make the hemline a ‘hi-lo’ style. So I shortened the center front by 1 1/2".
- Fabric piece or desired garment- Bulky yar- Straight pins- Needle- Sewing thread in color to match the yarnStep 1- Pin the yarn to the fabric piece in a wavy line.Step 2- Tack the yarn to the fabric at several points, by hand, to prevent it from slipping during stitching.Step 3- Stitch the yarn in place with small zigzag stitches. Sew the garment, following the instructions. It is possible to sew the yarn on an existing sewn garment, but it is much easier to sew to the pattern piece before construction the garment.
